Man, if I would have had the $20K in credit card debt I had paid off last year when this tornado hit, I would have been throughly hosed. I don't put crap on credit unless it's an emergency.

Just get a checking account. The debit card you get can be used like a credit card as far as purchasing from a online business and it just comes out of your checking account. Credit cards are the devil in disguise.

Credit cards are only problematic if you buy things you don't have the money to pay for (which is really as dumb of an idea as it sounds). If you use a credit card like a debit card (don't spend money you don't have and pay off your bill every month), then there is no reason to fear them. It's only when you rack up a big bill and can't/don't pay it off on your next bill that they start ramming you with the interest and stuff...

BTW, do many of you have the Newegg preferred account? I've been thinking about it, is it worth while or just another account you could do without?

The Newegg Preferred Account is a really nice feature, if you don't get out of control.....make sure you pay off the balance before the interest rate of 20%+ kicks in.....depending on how much you spend, you have 3-6 months
