The US does have some of the lowest prices compared to other countries but we also have some of the lowest fuel taxes around the world too. The only places where it is cheaper are specific areas of the middle east and Venezuela..

I have a suburban with a 454 V8... it gets around 10mpg...
I do have it up for sale now and once I sell that I am looking for a Jeep Wrangler with a 4 cylinder. I only drive the "burb" maybe once a month to run to the store or something simple, I work from home now so don't need it for heavy loads or to drive to work.

I still remember when I started driving in 1992 that gas was around $1.00-1.25/gal

fortunately, i only drive a Pontiac Grand Am-4 cyl. - but it still hurts - everytime i see an increase, i just remember back about 2-3 years ago saying that $1.50-$170/gal was nuts
Now, it may go to $4-$5/gal soon...i'm becoming a quaker - where's my horse

Arrow Re: New $5 bill (My solution to the problem...)

I think Albertans deserve a price break, after all we produce the stuff!

We also have the 2nd or 3rd largest reserves in the world. Little good that'll do at the world's rate of consumption. Why can't people go green with methanol

Methanol would be (IMHO) competitive at today's gas and diesel prices. Plus it's half-way to pure hydrogen fuel. Only waste is water vapor.

Interesting report. On page 97 the Red Benchmark Line was based on a price in November 2006 of US$60.2/barrel. Oil closed today at $119.90 (NY light sweet crude), nearly double what it was just 18 months ago.

prices are expected to continue to rise, some speculate well over $150 a barrel and some are pushing for advanced price increases (price increases at the pump before it raises per barrel) on American soil to ward of a fast barrel cost increase to $4/gal at the pump... I will be saying a big HELL NO
