Hal,
If you have a stereo, most modern audio receivers allow you to hook the video and audio up to the receiver first, then to the TV.....so everything would go through the stereo receiver...giving you audio.
I had a similar thing happen with my 53" Sony after 7 yrs of service....I just hooked up a cheap audio receiver and had much better sound than came out of the display.

We strive to provide you with the lowest prices possible on Walmart.com as well as in our stores. However, sometimes a price online does not match the price in a store. In our effort to be the lowest price provider in your particular geographic region, store pricing will sometimes differ from online prices. Our local stores do not honor Walmart.com pricing or competitor advertisements from outside of a store's local trade territory.

HAl,
its time to introduce you to the wonderful world of surround sound! I dont know if my tv speakers work. Hell I dont know if any of my tv's for the past 10 years speakers work. You need to move on up to the wonderful bliss that is 5.1, 6.1, or even 7.1. Forget those junky assed speakers in the tele, go to fry's and buy you some cheap polks and an onkyo receiver and see what you have been missing.
