If the bed or wiring was faulty, it is the hospital's fault for not maintaining their equipment. If you were to clean off the wiring and got zapped, it is still the hospitals responsibility. From the information provided, I would say that you did the best you could in that situation and just feel bad that this happened. If the fire alarm goes off then most of the people would be working their way out of the building, so why go back in?
I see no problem in this event and hope the hospital finds the same. Of course some businesses look for scapegoats to offset the responsibility so I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I worked at a Prison as a correctional officer for a while and one morning while leaving I heard the fire alarms going off,
I walked back in went to the control room and asked, "Do you need me to stay and help?"
That is usually what you are supposed to do, if they do not need you then they make that decision and send you home.

I am not judging you at all, just stating what I would have done in a similar situation.

i would have done what Athildja and Quake stating, but our protocol and my higher rank
bosses think otherwise, so i'm just following the protocol... believe me i would have return back but since this is not the first time i heard the fire alarm as soon as i step out
the door and came back...

patient was fine i talk to him this morning, and apparently i wasnt to blame, i was playing
with the foley catheter i inserted to him and trying to figure out how to work it again
without knowing he is still pissing on the floor.

fortunately for my part noone is blaming me, its the unsafe very low socket and faulty
wiring at fault here. i havn't heard from the higher ranks probably monday, knowing them
they rather blame someone than to pay fee on liability insurance, i just hope everything
run smooth monday...

and i hope they re-route the wiring to higher place than is it now which is not even
a foot higher than the floor, so that this and other related incident would be prevented.
i talk to the head and members of the maintenance crew that this was not the first
short and fire incident concerning the wall socket, they said since water/urine/feces/
and other liquid material are bound to splatter in the floor and short any of the low
laying wiring and wall sockets can be reached...

lesson i learned make sure any splatter must be wipe dry and any area that can be
reached by the liquid material after splatter must be checked...

Well sounds like everything should shake out fine.

To be honest Hal, you sound a little tired and worn down....maybe you need a couple days away to clear your head and get a fresh perspective.
