My daughter has graduated highschool!!

well its a good thing she has parents like that mine were the same, and at the time, my reaction was the same as your daughters. i like to think i turned out ok. probably the better of the bunch. in a few years she'll understand where you were coming from. trust me on that.

as a side note, its a good thing youll be retired by the time she gets her LT. it would be kinda weird calling your daughter m'am and saluting her

and I think you did the right thing by putting your foot down. That just means when she moves away, she will have a few years of freedom before she realizes that she really does need to concentrate on studies and work to get anywhere in her future...

We hosted her graduation party until mid-night a little over a week ago. And spent about $250 we didn't have to do it.

She had plenty of time to attend graduation parties. The ceremony was over by 8:30PM. Her curfew was 0100. She took issue with the fact she wanted to stay out all night with no parental oversight. No checking in, no nothing.

That doesn't happen in my house. Period.

Not trying to tell anyone how to raise their kids, but in my experience in college, the kids that were the most restricted in high-school end up being the most wild ones in college.

A 0100 curfew doesn't sound too restrictive to me. Sounds like they gave her some leeway to enjoy herself. Besides, kids with NO limits turn out to be the really wild ones. Give her a few years, Tom, and she'll be thanking you and your wife for everything you did.
