Regardless of who actually "owns" it, it's still not owned by Google or M$ yet, which is cynically destined to happen... That's all I meant.

This deal is for industry, but for consumers IMHO. The more search engines and advertisers the better...drives prices down, but better search results up.

I just hope they reject Microsoft's deal as well... thats what we don't need, MS jumping in and gobbling up more competitors

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Actually for their shareholders it was probably a good deal. I know if I had stock in Yahoo and the board rejected a good offer where I could make money I'd be pissed.

sorry been a weird morning... I was thinking Google but when I typed Microsoft I continued that thought accordingly...
I hope they deny Google as well so that there is competition... and competition breeds innovation which is why MS just rehashes the same crap over and over in a prettier package, because there is no reasonable competition.

Ironically people predicted shares would have plummet under 20, but yahoo's currently up 0.39 at 29.59.

Heres another look at it

Yahoo's stock rise is in part to Microsoft's bid which is basically only $2.00 per share over Yahoo's current value. Yahoo should be able to get more than that from Microsoft. Then again MS might wait for Yahoo stock to go down. Google doesn't like the buyout because it could bring stiffer competition for them. Personally it means little since I rarely use Yahoo for anything other than a e-mail account to send stuff I don't want on my Google account.
