| Washington Times - Border patrol agent held at gunpoint "It was unclear what the soldiers were doing in the United States, but U.S. law enforcement authorities have long said that current and former Mexican military personnel have been hired to protect drug and migrant smugglers. " "Since 1996, there have been more than 200 confirmed incursions by the Mexican military into the United States" It is completely unaccptable that their drug lords are making raids in the US to kill informers. But sending the Mexican army over the border to protect drug smugglers? Pointing loaded weapons at our border guard. Are we going to have to declare war on Mexico? ![]() Last edited by PTRMAN; August 6th, 2008 at 09:01. |

| Bowser pwner. | I don't think mexico should EVER become part of the US. That'd be a nightmare. We've got so many flippin mexican's in CA already, it's almost as if you can't got to the jack in the box without knowing spanish. If they want war, lets give em war. |

| That's about one of the most ignorant things I've read in a while. The last thing this country needs is another war. I mean, look how well this nonsense in Iraq is panning out for us. Plus, the action of these Mexicans doesn't represent the government as a whole. |

| 1) Mexican army has "invaded" (i.e. gone over the border) a number of times (believe 200+ in past 12 years was the quoted figure) 2) May or may not be "Mexican Government" - if it isn't then we've got to lean on Mexico to clean up their crime problems on the border (with the implied threat that we will if they don't); but if it is then it is technically an invasion, although everyone will agree that accidentally stepping foot over the border shouldn't be escalated too far. What bothers me most is that our leaders seem to turn a blind eye to this. I don't know why Bush bends over backwards for Mexico, but he sure seems to have a soft spot for them. I'm concerned the terrorists/drug lords become enboldened by our lack of a response - just like the Taliban/Osama did after the first WTC bombing - and plan bigger/bolder things in that corner of the country. What will we do when these "incursions" become more frequent/deadly? Will it take something so big (think killing cops or border patrol or perhaps even civilians) that the government can't ignore before anything is done? ![]() |
