| 5 Minute Mod Man | Thanks for the warning. My opinions/rants to follow. ![]() They do try to catch elected officials that take bribes, but my guess is that they don't catch them often enough. However, I would like to state that no country/democracy is perfect. None ever will be. Quote:
Back to traffic tickets. If police wrote zero traffic tickets, who would obey traffic laws? I'll answer: less than 1% of the population. This would put you and your family and friends at great risk. Police are trained on traffic AND criminal laws. Police don't just get hired one day and get handed a gun, keys to a car and a ticketbook the next day. Most officers have extensive training before going out and 'harrassing citizens' by writing traffic tickets. Oh, BTW, citizens have every right to fight the traffic tickets in court, just like they have the right to a trial in criminal cases. If you feel you are being harrassed report it to the supervisors at that officer's agency or take the ticket to court. Quote:

| A Lonely Geek | 220 years ago, the founding fathers decided that our country should be a republic. It was a good idea then and still is. But, we don't elect them to do our will...we elect them to make what they determine is the "right" decision. Unfortunitely, even if they go to DC to do our will, they soon realize that if they don't do what the party leaders want, they will be rendered totally and completely ineffective, given bullshit jobs, and spend the rest of their time there in a corner jerking off. And, the leadership are like the rest, they are elected from their own particular state or district. Being in charge, they bring home the bacon, and their constituents seldom vote them out of office, even if they don't particularly care for their politics. I could rant on this for a long time...but congress, a majority of them anyway...is so out of touch with the people. I.E., the immigration issue. The people have spoken...they don't want amnesty. But the elites think that they know better than those that sent them there, they tried to get a second amnesty bill shoved through in a spur of the moment bill, that was discovered in time for another outcry. It will happen again next year, and keep happening until they get one, or the majority again becomes the minority. (personally, I have decided I don't care one way or the other...we have gotten some really good Mexican restaurants since the illegals moved in) BUT>>>whose fault is it? The morons that keep sending those people to Washington decade after decade. Most of them couldn't tell you how their representative or senators stand on a single issue. I personally know my representative, and he votes exactly how I like. If he didn't, I'd be out there campaigning against him every other year. Yes, we should...at the polling place. ******************************* As far as speeding tickets, if you don't like or want them, don't speed. ******************************* Taxes for schools is kind of an individual school district issue. You can throw infinite amounts of money into a failed school system and it won't improve much if at all. We have an excellent school system here. But it pisses me off to see teachers spending their own money for supplies, and they do daily. Prisions shouldn't cost much...tents, concertina wire, and bologna sandwiches would lower the cost a lot. Last edited by fstroupe; December 16th, 2007 at 21:15. |

| I almost think that sometimes jail is incentive. A homeless man that cannot afford a place to sleep, no food, no anything would actually do better in several ways to be in jail >.< . That's kind of sad. |
