Windows NT was their first server OS back in the mid 90's. Unix has been around since the late 60's early 70's. It's not going anywhere. For that matter Linux isn't going anywhere either. Yeah it's probably not the best OS for the common home user, but it has it's place in the world. Mostly in systems that require low resources, high security, and minimal downtime due to being mission critical.

Yea they would use MS but like you said unix isn't going anywhere as far as servers and desktop linux won't go away either but it's not progressing very fast either. i don't see much of a upsurge in use from a couple years ago when I first tried it.

That is understood joker.... but some games ARE made for linux and can be run natively without any WinE or Cedega or emulation layer, they can be installed and run natively... and I am talking not just tetris, pacman and the bubble game.... this is an older list from late 2006.

linuxgames: Top 21 Linux Games Of 2007

Some on the list, many of them free:
Americas Army
Quake Wars
Tremulous
World of Padman (Quake 3 engine)
Urban Terror (Q3 engine)
Second Life
ManiaDrive (clone of Trackmania)
Warsow
Warzone 2100

The Quake engine is setup to work natively in linux and I understand the Doom engine is as well.
Also there is a native gaming engine for linux called Cube that looks like HL2.
and Ubuntu games list has a nice list of free games available:

Thanks HL and Corsair!
