Tried Red Hat, yellow dog. ubuntu, debian, bsd, red hat and suse. They all suck. Sure I would use it if there was nothing else since you can connect to the internet and use a office product. Stormcrow is right about it being a pain in the ass to get rid of. Microsoft will have to implode before I use that linux crap again.

understood... rather than put the time to learn how to use it properly, you just talk bad about it and claim it is useless... linux is only useless if the user cannot work it properly. It is only as smart as what you tell it to do, this goes for any program or OS.
If you go in with the perception that it sucks, then you will leave it with the perception that it still sucks since you choose not to learn how to actually use it.
Thats ok, Microsoft will be right there willing to steal more and more money from your pocket on a regular basis.

Naw I'm getting 2 free copies of Vista from Microsoft so I'll be good for quite awhile and if linux ever gets out of the sewer then I'll use it. Nothing is terribly wrong with linux other than the learning curve and who wants to learn a different OS when you already have a useful one that has everything including gaming.

If they don't work right at the first try, don't work right at the second try and still don't work right at the third try, why exactly should you try a fourth time when you got an alternative (in this instance Windows) that works fine for you?
Some people have better stuff to do then spend time fixing their computer and prefer to enjoy it. :P

Joker, why post like that against something you prefer and choose not to use? Just because you choose not to use it doesn't mean its useless. If it was not for linux then this website would not likely be here (nor would billions of other sites). The number 1 OS worldwide is Linux, and this is mostly due to servers (when you bunch all of MS's OS, Apple's OS and all Linux OS's together).

Thats liek saying you refuse to buy nvidia video cards because a FX5200 and 6800 and 7600 cards you bought over the past few years never worked the way you expected so you only buy AMD/ATI cards now. Same line of thinking. Soemtime you have to learn how to use the associated programs (example: ntune) to get what you want out of the situation.

Now I realize that it will not work for everyone, just like Windows or OSX does not work for everyone. that does not mean it is useless or trash or is in the sewer, it just means you choose to not use it. That is no reason to claim it is trash or in the sewer.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I guess Jokers should have specified he was only talking for himself and not for the rest of the world. It's his opinion, he didn't say anyone was sharing it.

Besides, you're citing Linux as a good server OS. I'm not against, even though a Linux distro wouldn't be my first choice.
Do you think Jokers has a need for a server OS?
Do you even think it's worth the effort of re-learning a lot of what he has learnt so far (technical knowledge of Windows OS) only so he could be able to debug and use whatever flavor of Linux?
Like I said, some people prefer to just use their computer instead of having to fiddle with it every so often, I think that fits the case of Jokers pretty well. Can't be arsed to learn Linux when it's not going to serve him better than Windows.

Thats why I edited my post
but also Linux is not only a server OS, it just happens that is the major usage for it right now since it has not caught on as strong in the consumer market.
