Congrats man, that's the best life test I think a person can volunteer to take, and you passed it!

Simple, you said you can only go off base on weekends? Fort Sam Houston is surrounded by golf courses and the only thing I remember (went to Lackland briefly in the late 90's). But is he free to check out the entire town and do whatever, or is there some narrow windows as far as times go? Like Cinderella Liberty or something like that? I don't know how the Army works, but sounds like squid A or C school where we were totally free after classes. If so, that place is a blast!

Congrats on completing the challenge. You have quite a bit before you now with the needed confidence. Ya done great for a New Yawker. Really glad the wife made it out for you graduation and that Joe was there.

Do not confuse the Army Medical Corps with the rest of the Army. They do things different then us.

the first 4 weeks they keep them more the same way they were in the beginning of basic training. in fact when i first got there i was like wtf is this, deja vu? but after the first 4 weeks, theyll give you privileges. from what i recall, you were free to do what you wanted on post after 1700 and you had to be in your bunk by 2100.

the way the weekends worked was somewhat similar. at 1700 on friday you were cut free and you had to be back on base in formation by 1700 sunday.
