| a long time ago, i was driving home from a night of drinking and got pulled over. i wasn't driving badly but the police used the fact that my rear lights weren't red (i had aftermarket bulbs). anyways, i was very polite and cooperative during the stop. they made me do the drunk tests and i really don't know how well i did. they ended up parking my car and i got to call someone to pick me up. i thought that was pretty cool and i'm sure the fact that i wasn't being an ass had a lot to do with it. |

| oh yeah, i'm sure if i was falling over myself during the stop, they would have taken me to the slammer. but looking back, i really shouldn't have been driving after drinking long islands all night long. i got the 'tilt your head back and touch your nose' test, the walk the line test, and the lift your leg test. there may have been one more but i can't remember. i know as soon as i saw the lights flash, i sobered up a little bit and i tried to focus and as much as possible. my friend once told me once that if i ever get pulled over, open all your windows and put both of your hands on the wheel, which is exactly what i did during this stop. my wife got to ride along with the highway patrol one friday night recently and they told her that most of the people driving after a certain time are drunk. so even if you aren't doing anything wrong, they will look for any reason (mainly tags) to pull you over to see if you had been drinking. they also told her that if you are cooperative that they are more likely to cut you a break (common sense some people still don't do it). |

| 5 Minute Mod Man | yep. Stats show that after midnight more than half the people on the road have been drinking. Around here, on a thursday, friday and saturday night I know those percentages are much higher... Many people have been put in the slammer for drunk driving after being stopped for having lights out (or any number of other 'minor' violations). |

| I was pulled over for a burned out tail light and when I got home and checked it was fine. ![]() |
