Oh, I don't dislike Keanu Reeves btw. I don't think he's awesome or anything, just a normal actor.
Point being, they don't need to touch that movie. They don't need to redo it, with whatever actor they have in mind. It can only end terribly, kind of like those gaming movies they're all about lately. They slaughter the whole story behind those games and make it look like some kid written fanfic. :\

This is gonna suck almost as bad as Battlefield Earth. The best they can shoot for is to make it so crappy it's awesome like Plan 9.

looks pretty cool... of course the wife won;t let me see the cool movies unless she approves... may be time for me to rent a few for myself this weekend

Though I'm a huge SciFi fan, I've never actually seen the original 50's version, so it will be kinda new to me. My wife is also a huge SciFI nut, so we'll be checking it out. At least we can share that when it comes out, but she was giving me a bit of a hard time last weekend when I was looking at "10,000 B.C."...she hates those kind of movies. I thought it was cool though.
