No disc needed, unless you want to install the OS right from the get-go. It'll get past the BIOS then stop without the OS disc.

And dude, you gotta calm down and have faith in yourself! There's not gonna be a fire... hopefully.

Did anything show up on the screen, and did the fans, etc. spin up?

Just give things a final looking over. Take a deep breath and push the damn button as the suspense is killing me!

As Yellow said, the fans start spinning and the computer starts humming, your in good shape. It takes about 5 seconds for the actual POST screen to show up on my system.

always let it run for 10-30 seconds before shutting it down. What fans start up? do you hear the hard drive spinning up?
If not, typically when that happens it could be one of several things:
push down the memory and make sure those littles tabs "lock"...
push in all the power connectors into the board and all devices (24pin and 4pin and maybe 6pin on mobo, 6 or 8pin on the video card, 4 or 5 wire to hard drive(s), disc drive(s), etc)...
make sure all add-in cards (PCI, PCIe) are all pushed into their slots completely...

Thanks HL and Corsair!
