That kits seems like, well, the basic runs. We just spent 25 hours Wednesday and Thursday doing a splice. That pages just shows cold and heat shrink which is the easy part. That's the last step and just entales pulling the white spiral wrap and it collapses over the splice to seal it.

See, what I can't get around is that a splice would have to be done at the bottom of the ocean I'd think, and not on the ship. If done on the ship and then dropped, there'd have to be a tension device to keep it from ripping apart as it's lowered a couple miles with all that cable weight. It's the drop to the bottom that I can't imagine. You can't just drop fiber optics and have it not break all over the place.
