eeesh, 200,000 people is definately too many. The city I live in (well, technically it's a "village") has a population of like 1200!

Heck yeah Gig, I was born in Upland and lived around that area for 16 years. I remember when it was all orange groves down there in RC and Fontana and there was just the old mission looking building on Foothill and Haven. I even have some brief memories of the speedway. Two of my sisters still live down there. No way I could make enough to live down there to the quality of life I have here. That place is like the worlds largest housing development. A 1500sqft home with nothing special for 320k, no way.

Man that sucks, I totally understand how that could happen. I think they over reacted a little bit though. Truckers are always in high demand though so I'm sure you'll be moving on to something just as good or hopefully better.

That's just this city. If you add the populations of neighboring Ontario, Fontana, Alta Loma, Rialto, and a few others, I think you are looking at well over 1-2 million people. The whole of the Four Major County SoCal area is somewhere between 15-20 million people. The city (not the county) of Los Angeles is approaching 4 million. The entire Albuquerque area which includes Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, and a few other outlying areas is just over a million, with ABQ proper itself clocking in at about 750,000. Rio Rancho, where I plan to live, is at about 75,000. So, while not 1200, it's still a lot less than what I'm used to. 1200 people...I'm jealous!

I've lived in California all my life, with a few years as a little kid in SoCal, then 9 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, then here in SoCal again since 1984. I remember the orange groves too, in Walnut when I was a kid. That building at Foothill and Haven is still there, as is the speedway, along with lots of other stuff like shopping centers, restaurants, and more apartment complexes than a city has a right to have. And the housing just keeps on developing. Now you can get a 3000+ (no, not AMD) sq/ft house for anywhere from $500K - $800K. And if you want, you can even go for something over $1M that's nothing really special.

I would hate living with so few people. KC's not that big, but it's big enough.

Ehh...

Well, it is kinda nice living in a small town. My house in India is located in a small town about 120KM out of the main city (what's that, about 75 miles?). It takes two and half freakin' hours because they drive at 50kmph. ARG! And my uncle's crappy van is so uncomfortable... Seriously, those seats were made out of wood or something... Haha. That's what you get for buying a $4000 van (it's really crappy: engine is right under the passenger seat, you can see the chassy everywhere, no interior basically...).

Anyways, it always feels nicer going home in India then it is at my Grandma's place (it's in the city). It's quiet, easy-going, relaxing... I guess it makes sense to live in a small place. The only bad thing is that the electricity is shut off everyday from 4 to 6pm.

Wow, I just learned my suburb where I live has only 40K people... HAH. Lol. I never do anything in this town anyways.
