I know what you mean. It drives me crazy when someone sends me a .NET application. It seems to be full of bugs. C & C++, please is all I can say!

So if Microsoft changed their logo to a basket full of kittens you would buy a copy of Vista?

I'd be more than willing to purchase another copy of XP, but no, not Vista. I'm just gonna pretend that flop never happened. I'm waiting for Vienna :santaclaus:

LOL, not sure I want to open up this can of worms, but how is Vista a flop? It hasn't really even been officially released yet has it??

Well, no M$ bashing intended here, you understand. Vista's certainly a step in the right direction, but it's still got some problems. I think Windows is going through a transitional phase right now. Its security features in particular need some serious re-consideration. The security pop-ups show up every time you try to use something that came bundled with Windows and, more likely than not, people will be greatly annoyed by them and, naturally, develop a bad habit of clicking yes without even thinking about it. Files can still be executed without permission in plenty of other wise, as well, and each application has permission to read and write to most of your data (and it won't be long before someone figures out a way to access the system files from a limited account, too, if they haven't already; it'd be very easy since the applications have permission directly to the hardware).

There are several other problems I've found with it, but like I said, it's definitely a step in the right direction, even if it is a puberty stage for Windows. The file explorer has been basically re-invented for Vista, and (after you get used to it) it's much better than the file explorer in XP.

The one thing I miss the most when I use Windows, though, is the native virtual desktop support. To be honest, Flip3D isn't as helpful as they claim because it's so slow. Microsoft's best option, by far, would be to add more virtual desktops. Other operating systems are doing it, so why aren't they?

do a simple search for MSVDM, I use this myself on my XP installation and works pretty well. The wallpaper issue is a bit strange but otherwise works the same as Ubuntu type desktop manager. View all 4 or switch to other desktops.

It is available on the XP Power Toy page HERE

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I tried that a couple years ago and I uninstalled it because it was pretty buggy and slow. However, that was on an older PC, so I guess I'll try it again.

It takes up about an inch of taskbar real estate and doesn't even hide the taskbar bubbles for programs on a different desktop. What good is it? 0_o
