| I frequently lose $10K just in my couch cushions. Let's see if Apple's stock can do any better for me... |

![]() At the left side bar on the top theres the button that says "Make a Trade", click that and type in a big company name like Apple for instance, there will be a little scroll out thing under that'll have the abbreviation for Apple which is AAPL. Click on the AAPL and then click go, then you'll come to a page with lots of options and a graph of the stocks in the past couple days. Next to the graph theres words and numbers, the top one is "Last:" next to that will be the current price (which right now as I'm looking at it is $145.06 per share). You buy low and sell high, so when the price rises then it's a good idea to sell all or some of the shares of whatever amount you bought. Make sense? I hope this helps everyone here like me who couldn't figure the darn thing out until now. ![]() Last edited by Parker; March 26th, 2008 at 13:24. | |

| The Stock Exchange is only open for certain hours of each work day. A "Day Order" is only good for that trading day. If the purchase or sell order isn't executed before the market closing bell, the order (buy or sell) will be canceled. So if I log on right now and try to buy 400 shares of IN, and mark it as a "Day Order", the purchase won't go through (and it'll just disappear). Then tomorrow when I check my portfolio, nothing would have been bought or sold and I will have to make the purchase again. You can select to buy/sell using the option "Good Until Canceled", this will push the order the next available time the market is 'open' and as long as you have the funds to cover the cost (if the stock prices go up in the interim). 20-30 minute delay is the norm, but it can actually take longer. During that 'delay' the prices of the stock you are trying to buy or sell can go up or down. This is a risk of buying/selling stock.
