It was my decision/responsibility,as a gun owner/reloader,to let them know of my standing,as far as it goes, with "black powder".
I have way above average, what "normal" people usually have in the household.
I love a "gun"/ "weapon" thread and Will post some pics as soon as I can.
I have been working 10/12 hours a day so being here is kinda tough at this time through the week....but look out on the week end!
Thanks a bunch for starting a thread,I can realy relate too, militarily and actual hunter wise.

EDIT: as far as basic training and the issued firearm...IMO, the M16A1 was the THEEE firearm to protect my ass without fail. I quallified with it,slept with it and loved it.Very reliable...even in the harshest environment. They were made by COLT. I also used the varient, the AR14.

My dad used the M1....which he still swares by.

All Rock Chucker equipment. RCBS all the way.
I still have a mountain of powder(s) here as well as a collection of other reloading components. Of all the presses I have used I have to strongly agree the old RCBS Rock Chucker has seen more rounds than any of them. I also used an RCBS case trimmer.

Though I enjoy handgunning with both pistol and revolver I am by far a rifle type. I still enjoy my first rifle a Remington 510P. Though I have worked on and tricked out a good number of the ARs my true love is my M1A as well as an M1 Garand I custom chambered in 7-08 Remington.

I knew I wasn't the only RCBS Chucker lover out there! As far as Military weapons, I went through "Sniper School" with a Garand and ended up with a take down version of the M31. It's a 20 inch bull barreled, three piece composite stock, bolt action piece of art. I wish I could've kept it upon my departure of the Marines in '91. It was the most accurate weapon I've ever fired. But now here at home, I would'nt trade my trusty old Savage 110 270cal. for anything. I can load it for just about anything. And if it won't kill it, then the old 300 win Mag. will have to work. Bailey

Considering I left the Corps in '78 with 10 years service and went DoD I guess I was just a tad ahead of you. Not familiar with the M31 I was a big fan of the M1 Garand in the M1C and M1D versions. My brother-in-law managed a sweet M1D (Winchester Mfr.) from the old DCM program. Even the original scope was pristine. A nitch I had in smithing was building up the M1 Garand, M1A and the AR families for match shooting. I was never a big fan of the ARs (Mouse Guns) till I had my ass waxed by one at the 200 yad line in a shoot. I did get even at the 500 but I was like holy shit looking at this guys group. Truth be known, it was my lousy shooting offhand in lousy weather.

The .270 is a tremendous round and a round as to bullit diameter I hold only second to the 7 mm Rem. Mag. (Discounting the propritary like the 7 mm Weatherby). The beauty of the .270 is that flat trajectory. Just a really sweet round for all around use. Consider the 30-06 was born in 1906 to replace the 30-03 the original US Rifle cartridge for the '03 Springfield. Look at how many great cartridges spawned from that cartridge, the .270 included.

When it comes to a great single stage press nothing I have ever seen beats the RCBS Rock Chucker. Most of my dies are also RCBS and I have a mountain of them. All of my match loads were run on that damn rock chucker!

At present,my wife has a Model Seven in 7mm 08 which is a smaller rifle with a synthetic stock and shoots very well and is scoped.I have a Rem 7mm Mag with a stainless barrel that is scoped and reaches out there nicely. It is magna ported as well.Very tight 1 hole groups.
I have a Rem mod 700BDL in 308cal that is my main hunter and is scoped with a wide view multiplex 3x9.I may get that magna ported also.
I have an older Rem mod 722 in 244cal that is the flatest shooter in my arsinal.Leupold 4x12 on top and very clear view. This rifle is going to the smith to get a match crown and ported....sighted in right now,it is dead on at 400yrds (my favorite Antelope rifle).
We have 2 Marlin bolt 22cal that we target shoot...both scoped,1 with a fixed 4x and mine has....haha a 4x-12x Bushnell on it! I know....overkill.But man ,can I see the target well! the scope was free from my dad.
Last but not least is my service weapon when I play security officer, and is a Ruger 45acp P97-DC in stainless.I love it,what more can I say.

I had and sold a Dan Wesson 41mag that was customized some, shot real well and was fun to shoot...didnt use it enough,so figured better off selling it.Also an H&R 20g side by side,antique...sold to a friend.A mossburg 12g camo turkey gun I never get to use went bye bye also.
I have an old pre 64 30-30 saddle rifle coming my way soon!!!!! Cant wait to show that one I had a Weatherby vangaurd Mark 4/5 I think it was,in 270cal...too friggin nice to take hunting..sold it before it got a scratch on it.

Your model 722 Remington is one very sweet little rifle! Circa mid 50s. I once snagged a minty one chambered in the .222 Remington. I later removed the pencil barrel and put a heavy fluted Douglas barrel on it that I chambered in .223. The new barrel was stainless and complimented the blue action really nice. I had to move it to a laminated stock that I still had to ream the barrel grove on but the damn thing came out nice. The 722 action, even though Remington only made it in a short action was one of the best they made in my opinion.

And yes, the same .223 I shoot in that is made on a rock chucker!

OH yeah, the crowning is a great way to go. I like 11 degrees on my target rifles.

I still have the original barrel and stock for that 722.
