| What gives you that idea? Durham has a relatively high crime rate, but I don't think Greensboro is any worse then any other comparably sized city. ![]() |

| I say NC. I was born there and then moved to New Jersey because of my dads work in like 1988. But we are moving back there this summer to specifically Asheville, well 20 minutes from Asheville in the mountains. The people are sooooooo friendly compared to the ones here in NJ. After being raised in NC as a kid I really didn't ever fit in properly because the Sociological differences. | I haven't lived there for 20 years, but I'm pretty sure traffic can be bad, so don't live too far from work. I think there is public transportation (buses) but I don't know how well they cover the area. Can't help with respect to a specific neighborhood, I was up in Glendale. At least you can't really get lost - everything is laid out in a grid, with major interesections every mile or so. Have you ever been there? ![]() |

| Modder-ator | I visited once for a day or so with my girlfriend when she went to audition/interview at ASU for their graduate program. We stayed in a Hotel no more than a mile from the ASU campus, so I only got to see some of the stuff around there by walking. I definitely want to live as close to work as possible. Right now I only live about 1/2 mile from work so I can walk every day and it is very nice. Is there a general traffic trend in Phoenix? Like is everyone driving into the city in the morning and out at night or something? I've lived in northern Michigan my whole life and have never experienced summer in the desert (like Arizona). Do you have any advice for living there in general? |

| Modder-ator | Well then chalk one point up for Blake and his '01 Malibu with AC! ![]() I guess instead of being cold most of the year and absolutely needing heat, I get to be hot most of the year and absolutely need AC. Hmmm, will take some getting used to, but I think I'm really going to enjoy the sunshine. Now if I can just land a job interview! ![]() Last edited by gvblake22; March 25th, 2008 at 08:17. |

| Functional Alcoholic | Back in 2001 I was TDY for a month (Jul/Aug) in Ft Huachuca AZ, which is just south of Tucson AZ. I literally ran from my AC hotel room to my AC Car, drove to class and ran to the AC classroom. That summer it reached 120 F. My wife (before we were married) lived in AZ for a year. The sun actually baked the paint right off of her black car. It's diffrent living in a hot enviroment vs a cold one. |

| Hah! While I was there I had some concrete mix bags in the back of my truck for added weight (went to snowy Colorado for Thanksgiving and couldn't find cat litter bags). One of the bags ripped, got wet somehow and baked itself hard, just from the temps in the WINTER! I had a hell of a time chiseling it out of the bed. ![]() |
