Default Re: FDA Says Cloned Animals Safe for Food

This may help leaner meats such as deer and buffalo get into a more mainstream diet... I am not sure why they don't already have deer farms for this purpose.
Buffalo is a good lean meat and has good taste to it...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

They won't be cloning every specimen that gets sent to the butcher, clones are expensive to produce and meat would skyrocket if that was the case. Say you get a good bull, one that produces a high quality of beef found in 1 out of 30 or so bulls. You clone that bull to make another that has the same genetic makeup and breed the clones, so their offspring also have a high quality of meat. Remember though that clones only share exact DNA, each one will be slightly different and will only help at making that 1 in 30 bull less rare. Not a sure thing.

I also heard they may be working on some of the same thing for rodeo bulls as well... may actually make it cheaper to do it that way since some bulls can fetch more than the cloning would... heck even the bull semen for high dollar bulls can go for $500-1000 (not a job I would want to deal with)

"nah i'll eat it..."

Oh, bad juxtapositioning of reply, halutzparilla, given the prior post was about Bull Semen.
