| Colonel Calamity | hell no, they know that more foreclosures means less tax income so they raise the county and local taxes more... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

Now here is how I see it. The average idiots would take that $1,800.00 and blow it on that new Toshiba, Sanyo, Sony (hell pick one) large screen TV. Now I ask you, where the hell does the profit from that TV go? Damn right, it goes to China! China, Japan or someplace else but not here! However, you take that money and piss it away on whores, booze, and gambling right here in the gool ol' USA and you help the economy! Those whores have to eat and many have children. Drink Jack Black and help the great state of Tenn. Make sure the casino is American owned and operated! I do need to check on the casinos, years ago I could count on them being American owned (Italian American Mafia) but since the Fed screwed that up I bet those damn foreigners are in there! Way to go Hitman! I admire you! A true American! Maybe we could set up a HL donation fund. We each send maybe $20 of the deal to you so you can take it with you and piss it away for America! You could represent us helping America recover. Ron

![]() The fact that prices for property are down does not mean counties will appraise for less and lose revenue in a depressed market. Ron

| The house we were looking at purchasing here near Albuquerque was originally priced at $198K. At one point, KB slashed $10K from the prices of all their models, so ours dropped to $188K. Because of the market being the way it is, the price fell again to about $177K, but now lists at $179, 500. It's up a little, but I think it may drop even more as time goes by. So, at this point, we're probably going to sit and wait for the price to go down some more, and try for it at that time. I really don't feel the market will improve in the near future, and that sucks for current homeowners and people trying to sell, but for me - it's great to be able to sit back and watch. :pepsi: If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! | Colonel Calamity | locally they look at both the income and value of houses on the market.. when it was booming, they kept the rate the same (or maybe 1/2 a point down) yet value was up and we still paid more... the market is bust and these higher dollar houses are going for much cheaper which means less income so they kick it up a few ticks and we still pay more...3-5 years ago our mortgage payment was around $500, last year jumped to $600 and this year to $700. This is AFTER paying the tax difference (from our tax refund), if not it would have been $680 last year and $790 this year. Add on top of this the bullshit insurance hikes and being dropped from one company and automatically being setup with another... It could be worse, these people buying now are getting "boom" values and having to pay those taxes... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
