| 111, but like most I got impatient on the last ~5 and only looked for about 2 minutes on those...I score between 130 and 150 on most IQ tests. ![]() Join us on the unofficial HL IRC Channel! | I'm Diggin it! | My DLAB was 89. FAST was 127. I didn't want to be a linguist though. The Army sure tried to get me there. Offered all kinds of bonuses. When I took the FAST test, I was told I scored pretty high on it. Then, about two weeks later, I found out my eyesight wasn't good enough to go flight. I was so pissed that I turned down going to walking warrant because I was a crew chief in the 160th and had no reassurances I would return there. On typical question and answer intelligence tests, I usually score in the mid 120's. But my math has always held me back in one way or another. Ever since brain surgery, my math has really sucked and I have to work abnormally hard at anything beyond the most basic of mathematical tasks. Boy, if I could turn back time. I'd be a senior CW4 now. | A Lonely Geek | I spent too much time on both tests "analyzing" them. I think I made 1 point on the DLAB below the min you could make an not be able to retest. Don't remember what I made on the FAST, but it sucked. Didn't want to be a linguist, they wanted me to take it in MEPS 'cause I had an awesome ASVAB score and was going MI. I thought at one point I wanted to be a pilot, but as I was taking the psych parts of the test, I realized that mentally, I couldn't have done it. (I was about 1/3 the way through what ended up being a 2-year separation from my -ex, and was a basket case) Glad I didn't...some months later I was attached to JSOC for a year, and wouldn't have missed that for the world. Maybe we'll PM about that sometime. I guess we've hijacked this thread enough. LOL |

| I need a chart that shows me what all the JSOC, FAST, DLAB and any other military terminology mean. ![]() |

| A Lonely Geek | LOL....Military acronyms are a language into themselves...and each branch has its own, further separated by the various worlds in each branch. I was Airborne, and in military intelligence. Quakindude is Airborne, but in aviation, so we would share many of them...but each of us would have some of our own...and the world that his unit is involved in has its own multitude of other acronyms. Redleg is artillery, and I assume that Hitman is too, though he could be Air Defense Artillery, and though we would understand many of the same acronyms, there are many that we wouldn't. Some have filtered down into the civilian world, such as ASAP...and though it actually stands for "as soon as possible"...in the military it means "right f**king now!" If said by a first sergeant, it means "10 minutes ago!". DLAB is Defense Language Aptitude Battery, the test that everyone in the military and military civilians have to take to determine their aptitude for learning foreign languages. It actually uses a fake language invented for the test...using regular letters, but totally different rules and sounds from the English language. Each section of the test adds more rules. FAST is Flight Aptitude Selection Test, the test that anyone desiring to be an Army helicopter pilot must take and pass. It has several sections, including helicopter knowledge, questions to determine your capability to understand flying (air currents, etc) and a couple of psych sections to determine if you are the kind of person that they want flying their multi-million dollar helicopters. The weirdest questions I've ever seen....i.e., "Would you rather race a motorcycle, or drain a blister on a buddy's foot." (could have changed some, I took it in 1987, I think) JSOC is Joint Special Operations Command. I was on temporary duty there from mid-87 to late 88. I actually have seen some lists of military acronyms online....all were very long, and very incomplete. Last edited by fstroupe; September 16th, 2007 at 19:28. |

| I scored 103. My eye's are still trying focus. The patterns get a little weird at the end. |

| This thing had my eyes crossing about 3/4ths of the way thru. Scored 111. I've done from 115 to 145 on other IQ tests. Depends on the test and if I have been able to do any studying and mental exercises. BTW, the Navy also has their own acronyms exclusive to themselves. (As if you didn't know.)
