Default Re: Delivered my sister's new system today

I really prefer a stand alone USB multi-card reader. I can take it from computer to computer and it fits easily in my camera bag. I've had problems with the hard install readers myself. On the last build I did for a buddy of mine, a brand new card reader, this one, would immediately shut down the puter when I put a card in. I thought I plugged it in backwards, but after repeated attempts to get it working, I figured out the reader was bad.

Got the Egg to swap it out pretty quick, but it just reinforced my desire to use external card readers.

The external that I have is a 4 in one, and it works great! I have had the thing for around 4 years, and it has never burped once
The reader I was using was this one, very similar to the one Quakin mentioned. Even though I thought it sounded kinda cool, I thought "52-in-1" was slightly overkill - but it's what she wanted. But she didn't want it bad enough to have it disabling parts of her system.

I'm just glad I was able to get it resolved so quickly. And believe it or not, she WAS a paying customer! Not that I asked her to, but she fronted me $75 for my trouble when she paid me for the hardware.

I didn't have time to do it earlier in the week, so she watched as I called M$ to validate the OS, which was a snap. She has the system home now, and all she has to do is install whatever software she wants, set up her cable internet and move in all her files and stuff.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

Thanks! That little issue did seem to come out of left field, considering the thing worked when I first installed it.

I talked to my sister earlier, and she got her internet and email stuff set up okay. She was just downloading all the Windows updates and doing the IE and WMP updates. She wasn't sure about some of the updates, so she sent me a list to look at, and except for a couple of them, I told her to just take them.

I think I'm going to be finding out real soon just what it is to BE Tech Support, LOL!
