Sue, I have some sun in the Spring in on the back fence. Not much though. A little more than summertime. Probably about 4 hours each day.

I have no idea what the name of the rose is in the front. I know it has a mostly white flower with a tinge of yellow to them.

What do you mean by what zone do I live in?

LOL. Tell her that it's a lot of sweat. We happen to have sandy soil here, which is very easy for me to dig in. The hard part is moving the wheel barrow to dump it and putting bagged dirt in the holes.

USDA Hardiness Zone Finder

Wayside part shade plants
Wayside part shade roses
10 roses for part shade - New Dawn may be able to be substituted for awakening

Gardenweb - shade roses
Plants / roses - part shade

Depending on your zone, you could do a nice mix of plants back there
