Do you honestly think sheet-metal provides any kind of protection during a crash? No. The frame is what takes the brunt of the impact (aside from low speed front or rear impacts, in which the bumpers do their job). Honestly, in a crash, I seriously doubt you'd see any kind of meaningful difference between cloth and sheet-metal.

side impact may be different but it would be neat to see how they handle that

Thanks HL and Corsair!

It's true, sheet metal really doesn't do anything except provide a false sense of security and protection from the elements. You're probably less likely to get hurt in GINA during a crash because there won't be jagged crumpled steel panels closing in around you.

I think drew knows pretty well too...he doesn't even use doors on his Jeep. The Jeep is looking sweet these days too btw. I like what you've done with it.

Haha, thanks! And yes, doors are overrated. You're only really protected if they have impact beams in them!

I don't even want to think about the poor way it'll keep in heat in the winter, and I hate the cold!

I don't think they are putting cotton on the GINA. It's probably very tough, liquid-repellent stain-proof super fabric that can insulate as well as it needs to.

I don't see why that would be an issue either. As long as there is a layer or air or insulation between the cab and outside, it shouldn't be any different. It's not like sheet-metal is any kind of insulator, if anything it acts like a heat-sink, drawing heat away and releasing it.

I've seen cars made from carbon fibers...so maybe this will work.
