I did 6mo of group therapy when I first got back, It helped a lot. You have to be very careful with alcohol and drugs (prescription or otherwise) because your more vulnerable to serious addictions, to help ease the emotional distress. The guys that try to ignore it have the most problems.

Thankfully it seems like you have a good support system; hopefully SI will also when he gets back. Hubby has an uncle that was in 'Nam, he won't get on an airplane and has other issues.
