thanks man, really appreciate it. i will be signing the contract by next week, and i will be deployed to basic on April. well thank God, it will be spring which will not be too cold.
the recruiter havent made promise yet he always say i'll find everything on the signing of contract written in B/W, which he said will include my High Ed Bonus, and other bonus that may imply... i hope i can get more, and if i finish this and get my citizenship then i'll go join the Army Nurse Corps, and be a LT. i got the whole 2008 for the whole process, what i like is the Pay as you train whole scenario, atleast i will not worry about my wife well being, my family already sounded their whole hearted support on my decision to join. and my brother that didnt pass the ASVAB will try again to join the Navy as soon as he finish his college, he is having problem passing it specially the Abstract, Math and Paragraph Analysis part of the ASVAB...

just to let everyone knows i finally finish my Oath of Enlistment,
be shipping out to BCT by April 14 08, to Ft. Still OK, Ft. Sam Texas for AIT....
i was given E4 pay grade as written B/W on contract,
hoping to finish BCT fast then study while inside for my RN and ANC[Army Nurse Corp]
qualification after naturalization...

because your an E-4 theyre going to more than likely make you a squad learder/platoon guide in basic and AIT. whats your MOS btw? i happen to be a 68W myself so if you have any questions as to what the training is like, im always here

You probably won't have time until closer to the end. Make sure and get a hold of me so I can go to your graduation. They usually have a family day the day before, so If your family can't make it let me know and I will come be your family. While your here if you need anything make sure and let me know.

no idea yet with my MOS but most probably M6 is the Army's Licensed Practical Nurse Combat Medic, i'm not clear yet the counselor told me to use the opportunity to check around my AIT course which MOS would I like... i'm beaten up with all those duck walk push-ups and exercise while naked, that physical exam is tiring, from 0430 wakeup call to the oath of enlistment at 1:00pm... some of my co-recruits were already sleeping at waiting area after the PE, the wait for Oath took 3 hours, that LT was a lil slow and very busy...

i'll definitely call you as the BCT nears an end...

ah 68w-M6. i did that course. got through 31 out of the 35 weeks of total time training only to bite it on pediatrics/labor and delivery. lets just say im not a fan of babies or the birthing process. i had a double tap (failed twice. needed a 76 to pass, i got a 74 >.<) on that test and since we were so long into the course all of the exception to policies and recycles had been "used" so said the colonel (i fought to stay in hence why little E-2 me at the time was talking to an O-6) needless to say they didnt give me another chance and sent me on my way.

anyway the course was broken down like this for me.
16 weeks for 68W unit was 232 (Foxtrot 232 for me) at Ft Sam Houston
8 weeks M6 phase 1 unit was 187 (Bravo 187, youll more than likely end up there as well) At Ft Sam Houston
11 weeks M6 phase 2. unit was Delta BAMC (you may end up at Walter Reed, Madagan or Ft Sam Houston for Phase 2)

i hope they will cut me some slack i have a civilian LPN license and a BS degree... i think they will expect more from me... i better start my basic exercises at home to tune my freaking aching body.... at least i got 3 months to prepare...


i got a question what is the GI bill the counselor telling me ? about education after service then i'll be deducted on the basic pay???

they should advance your training due to the fact that you have a BS degree as an LPN. and they will expect more lol. make sure you stretch your muscles out before and after you work out. you wont be as sore the next day.

the G.I bill is money the army gives you to go to college after you get out. during your first year in the army they will with hold $100 a month from your paycheck. (kind of like a deductable) after that first year of paying $100 a month, they give you whatever amount is stated in your paperwork concerning the GI bill. for example, they gave me $24,000 for college. thing is you cant use it until you get out of the army, and you only have up to 10 years (after you get discharged from the army) to use it. i do believe that your spouse and children are also able to use the GI bill for college.

another thing you should know is its possible for you to take college courses while your in the army, and it doesnt cost you a dime. all you have to do is go to the post education center and speek with someone there.

Thats not exactly true, you can use your GI-Bill while your still in the Army (Active Duty GI Bill User's Guide - Education - Military.com). Although it wouldn't be very smart since while you're in the Army you get 100% TA (Tuition Assistance), all you have to pay for is books. If you use https://www.earmyu.com/Login.aspx you can take all your classes online. It's possible for you to get your Masters Degree online. It might take you a little longer but your able to take classes on your own time.
