The original year, the first Idol contest was about finding the best singers, and if you remember back there was none of this commical stuff going on. Now it's about Simon bustin on people who clearly are not good singers and could not even make it through the front door in the first season, because it all comes down to ratings. Like 14 said, at times it seems staged. I don't watch AMerican Idol, I see what I've gathered on commercials/
