Default Re: Airlines and Unaccompanied Minors

I have never flown on a plane myself... never needed to... although I may get my chance some the end of Sept...

as for the minors, I asked some family and they have all had good experiences with the system post 9/11... very safe and secure at most times...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Seriously? That just seems weird to me. I have flown so many times I can't even count.

She handed them over to an Airline Rep and with the paperwork of who would be picking them up in OKC. They tagged the children and their bags with special tags. They sat them in the front with other kids flying alone, and no other adult passengers were allowed near them, only flight crew. In OKC I had to go to the ticket counter of the Airline and received a pass so I could meet them at the gate. I had to present an ID to prove I was the person to pick them up. At the gate I had to wait at the counter until they were escorted to the counter and I again had to present my ID and it had to match the paperwork. Once it was verified the children were released to me and I took them down to baggage claim. The whole experience was very safe and very controlled. The fee ($40 per kid each way) was a little much IMO, but the safety of my children has no price, and I thought the Frontier Airlines did a top rate job of keeping my children safe. I can't speak for Delta, but if they do it the same way you won't have any issues. My kids have been flying this way for the past couple of years, so they are used to it.
Wow, that's very good service. Like I said, they lost track of me quite a few times and I never had a dedicated seat with other kids or anything. I didn't fly often with US companies though (United Airlines only IIRC), European companies mostly (Lufthansa, KLM, Air Berlin, British Airways) and some Canadian ones (Air Canada, WestJet)

I have been coast to coast in the US in a car... I have several hundred thousand miles under my seat since age 15 (started driving legally at 14, illegally at 12). Started with small in state trips from western SD to eastern SD or to Cheyenne or Gillette WY... slowly went outward from there...
Last count is 25 states driving only, almost all of those in 7 years (age 15-22). Then at least 100,000 miles since I've been married with several trips from Northwest Fl to southern FL and FL to western South Dakota...
