| I don't even bother doing anything except for the weekly virus scan and every now and again anti-malware scan and clean. I can't seem to get the Defragger working anyways . ![]() |

I feel your pain. While stationed in southern California in the Mojave desert, I did nothing but fight a losing battle with the dust and dirt that managed to get into my rig. Last edited by garetjax; February 4th, 2007 at 07:25.

| Didn't see this thread till now, but I actually did clean out my PC yesterday! Cleaned out the P180's dust filters, took the sink of my x1800 GTO and blew in the end of it, HUGE wads of dust shot out of the fan...Took the fan of my Opteron's sink and cleaned the dust and applied some Arctic Ceramique. Core 1 load temps dropped 10*C, and Core 2 load temps dropped 5-7*C Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| Hell you can use just about anything for a filter. I have even used a kitchen vent charcoal filter once. If you are thinking WTF?! It was the color, black was what I needed and found that filter by chance. |

| Modder-ator | I've done that before. Works quite well but you have to stretch it out a lot to keep air flowing through it, and it is a little tricky to try and mount sometimes (mount on the fan, get your heads out of the gutter!)... |

To be honest, I've never done much filtering. I just blow on my hardware every now and then, though my NZXT case has a metal filter (can't compare to cloth filters though, hence the fact that I have to blow on my hardware). I'd like to know which is better for your computer: Filtering out the dust or allowing better air flow by not using a filter.

| resident headbanger | I thought this was a post about unemployment checks. Get a job hippies. J/k...I let all the hot air coming from my wife clean out my computer. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review |
