Comodore Vic 20, Comodore 64, Atari 400, Apple 2c, Comodore 128d, then when I went to college I was given a real computer in a Tandy 486sx 25mhz, no math co-processor, 120mb HD, and 4 mb Ram running Windows 3.1. Those were the days, you had your boot config for each of your favorite games so that your base ram was optimized for what they could use. XMS, EMS, NOEMS, mouse.sys or no mouse.sys. Plug-N-Play is what you did with your Joystick.

Oh man, one of the best programs out there for playing games was called "out and back"

The first system that I had was an IBM 8088 with no hard drive!! Just had to load everything from the 5 1/4 drive. That was the only drive in the system

It was an Atari - a 16 bit system (can't remember which model #) but I remember that it was the rage of the dorm. Not only was it great at word processing, but if you pressed a certain key combination, it would make a noise like an explosion with appropriate visual effects. Too cool.

I got it in 2001 so it wasn't TOO out of control if I remember correctly. Either way, it was high school graduation money so I had no good reason not to spend it all!

first rig my family owned was a windows 3.1 pentium that my dad brought home from work after it being 6 years old. then we had a few POS boxes just to write up papers on, then all of the sudden a wave of technology hit our family as i subscribed to maximum pc lol.....and as a function of that our electricity bill skyrocketed lol
within 2 months i got my laptop and built my desktop and now my folks are finally getting ready to replace their current rig.
socket A sempron, 1200mhz 128mb of ram, 30gb IDE 5,400rpm hdd, onboard everything.

my mom's ready to give me a $1,200 limit to include an LCD monitor. Should be fun = ]
