I think i'd take out the heavy and delecate parts like taking off the heatsink, PSU and gfx card and put the HDD in a antistatic bag, in a box with big sponges on each side. I think you can pick up the bags almost anywhere they sell pc parts.

Damn you guys are paranoid. You don't need to take out the PSU, cables or HDs. GFX cards and Large HSF, sure, because they can be jarred loose during movement. Everything else can stay in the case. The most important thing is to pack the case using packing material. Like I said I have sent computers all over the world without any issues.

LOL, like I said, I put it in a box and wing it into the truck.

Think about it, when you buy an OEM system the thing just comes packed in a box.

I hear alot of good about NM. Have a friend that retired to NM years ago. I guess it is a great place. I recall an earlier post where I believe you mention going there for a job.
I guess I can't help but worry a little - I've been known to move it into another room, do something with it, then put it back and then a fan quits on me or something, LOL! I was also wondering, what effect - if any - does a higher elevation have on computers? I'm going from about 900 ft to just over 5,000 ft.

Anyway, my wife and I met a guy yesterday who is from Santa Fe, and he told us that he's lived in ABQ as well, and what a great place it is. We actually got a pre-move "Welcome to New Mexico!" We meet very few people who don't like the place. To me, fewer/nicer people, less traffic, cleaner air, a good job market, and real estate that doesn't require being independently wealthy are all high points.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!
