Stinger, were they 1.2 or 360k floppies? I remember cutting a second notch in the old 5 1/4 disk so that you could use them as double sided. You are not old skool unless you have removed a floppy, turned it over, and then stuck it back in the drive.

My first computer was a Tandy TRS-80. It had a Motorola .89Mhz CPU, yes it was less than 1 Mhz, 9 colors I think with two distinct colors...the other 7 were shades of green/white. 1 Voice sound, all beeps for 99% of it, 4Kb of system Ram and a Radio Shack Tape deck with a serial cable for a hard drive. I played Defense Command, an asteroids type game and Bezerk. Bezerk was the first game in which I heard a voice on my TRS! I remember CROWDS of family being all around me. Just getting that game to run could take 20 minutes of "Pre-environment" commands. My grandfather taught me all about it and he was actually the one who gave me the TRS and anything I got for it. I also had a calculator program and Easy pencil writer something or another, a basic word processor.

My Dad sold it for beer and cigarettes about a 18 months after I got it. My grandfather was pissed.

Yep I forgot all about being able to flip the disks
So I guess I used the 360k disks as I recall, because the 1.2m disks were too expensive at the time

I suppose I'm the only one that still has the first one, with the exception of people who just got their first one. I'm just sentimental that way I suppose.

DISCLAIMER; I was probably drunk when I wrote this!

Where do I start? G6 350, Dell Dimension 8100, HP ZD7000, HP A630N, or the wallyworld Compaq?

My (my own, not family) first computer was a compaq P4 2.4GHz with like 512mb ram and 20gb hdd. I don't remember all the specs though. Then I got a dell P4 2.8, and now I am on a P4 3.2GHz w/ HTT. Hoping to get a custom computer soon =D

Pentium was very capable of running Windows 95 and the Pentium II's were capable of running Windows 98. 400mhz would have been a Top of the line Pentium II.

I made the avy myself. The avy is supposed to be a joke sorta... Intel's P4 background with AMD text... haha...ha =/

I like AMDs but I could never afford my own computer. My stepdad brought me my computers and they were all intel Dells or Compaqs. My new rig I am getting in a week or two will be an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor.

My chemistry teacher's computer is a PIII 800MHz. Whenever he talks about his CD drive 1GB HDD he goes insane because it was a lot back then. Amazing how technology grew so quickly! I can't wait to find out what we will have in just another 20 years!
