Okay, shall do so. And I'll take the advice about the dual-monitor setup. I'm thinking of networking this beast anyways, so I'll get a network printer for 14 grand. (It does exist - prints 60 pages in 10 mins flat!)

Main PC: Intel Pentium D 930, Asus P5LP-LE, 2GB DDR2-4300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, Lightscribe CD/DVD Drive, DVD-ROM, 300W PSU, GeForce 7300LE, Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II, HP Media Drive Port, 300 GB Hard Drive
Laptop: 900 MHz Intel Moblie CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, Intel 910 Motherboard, Linux OS (customized by Asus), 8.8 x 6.5 x 0.9 inches, 7.0 Inch screen, integrated camera, 2.0(without power cord)/2.4 lbs.(with power cord) _________________________________________

Man I LOVE and I mean LOVE my duel monitor set up!!
I couldn't live with out it.........
Hell you can get a GOOD 20.1 for under 300 and a good 19 for a little over 200.
OR you could just be cool and get a 24 like Rich.......But personally if this the a ultimate rig Id go for the duel 24's myself!!

Hell I would be happy if my printer at work would print one page in 10 min. Damn POS Jams every third page.

i am with cptncrunch on this one here
and im also surprised...no...DISAPPOINTED that no one bothered to say dual 24" dells. the 30 inchers have flawed gaming performance, but the 24"s are best.

also, the 750gb barracuda's (as singles, idk about raids) have faster read/write times than the raptors. check your MPC archives, boys!

as for the video cards, WHAT ULTIMATE PC ISN'T WATER COOLED?
also, what's the 1 vendor that allows the HS/F to be changed w/out killing your warranty? (and overclocking...) eVGA! **WooT for them**
go dangerden. they have a kit designed for dual 8800's and a dual/quad core CPU. double loops = ]
as for the g7, get a g5. Save money, and it's a better mouse. You don't have to deal with the NimH batteries. All of my friends that had one are returning them and buying themselves a G5.

did i miss your speaker/headphone choices?

I would never run Raptors in RAID 5. IMO Raptors and RAID 5 doesn't make sense. When I think RAID 5 I think Hight Capacity with Redundancy. When I think Raptors I think Speed. Raptors are made for RAID 0.

there's even a special raptor with a M in the serial number as opposed to a K.
those raptors are designed for RAID 0's.
correct me if i'm wrong on that one, please.

Why no love for Lite-On drives?
I have a CD burner that's 2.5 yrs old, and a DVD burner that's approx 18 months old.
I haven't burnt as much porn as polo{1000 discs}, but I have burnt about 200, and I've only had one coaster*.

*I don't burn at full speed and always buy verbatim/TDK discs.

A full DVD takes about 7mins to burn at 12x.

As for the ultimate PC{or gaming PC}, where are the ultimate games?

I'd wait till the cheaper Quads hit the market, wait till Vista's sorted, and wait for the 2nd gen of GPU....cause that 11k will be about 7-8k in approx 8 months.

I have a 24" Dell and a 20.5 " Dell, best monitors I've ever used....I'd love to have a pair of them.

My ultimate PC isn't water cooled, its chugging along between stock (2.4GHz) and 3.375GHz just fine on a Big Typhoon idling at 38C and load @ 43C (it is Winter), but with the death of Prescott, I don't see water as a necessity to get great result.
I have both a pair of Raptors and the 750GB Barracuda, and the difference is negligible, the Barracuda is a much better value.
As to the mouse, I was using the G5, but really don't care for it and went back to a Razer Copperhead. I still don't have any speakers, and am using the same pair of Sennheiser headphones I've had for 2 years now....and love them to death (I really need some speakers).
So, i guess my point is, the ultimate PC is going to be different for each one of us......some may think the ultimate means buying the biggest and baddest you can afford, some may feel that its buying the best value parts and getting the most out of them, while others may feel you should only buy certain brands.

INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU

I second that!!! I have a Lite-On CDRW that is at least that old, and still works like a charm!!! Its an old 32x24x32, and I have burnt tons of disks and just had a couple of coaster, due to my fault!!

One of the best drives out there with the best value IMO

i, for one, can't deal with the copperhead, but use my senns. I've basically abandoned my 5.1 x-530's. Only come out when a buddy is over and i don't feel like digging out my sony cans and a splitter.
My old monitor is about an 18" CRT dell, and is about 7 years old or so. It was the best when it came out, (my dad's work got it, because he was a CAD engineer) and it's still a great monitor, now it's hooked up to my folks rig.

And i agree with the lite-ons. I use em all the time, and have 3 in my 2 personal rigs. haven't coastered one, and they are all quiet, and quick. = ]
