nah just remove it and use the onboard for now... or could it be that onboard is still enabled causing a conflict? or maybe this virus you got is messing with the drivers??

I tried a driver download direct from HP and it didn't work earlier.

Major update:

I just got back my motherboard sound and I don't have to worry about BSODs either!

I downloaded my driver from here: Free Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Download

theres problem #1... relying on 3rd party and questionable site to download drivers from. Only get them from the manufacturers website or trusted source (like Omega drivers for example)

I've used Brothersoft for downloads before, so I trust them.
