All three models sport the same hardware, and I have the notes to prove it.

Do yourself a favor (and save yourself about $400) and go with something else. It's why I ultimately decided on HP in the end. To me, bling and a name aren't enough to warrant a $400 price increase for any product.
I get random Dell connections from being a member for so long and a great contributor... I get discounts. I saved $900 off my current Dell through coupons I got.

Yeah, $2200 was a ripoff to start with for this POS. It's my sig with some Dell 5.1 speakers, dual DVD drives, 1GB of RAM (I added another later on), etc.

I got it down to $1360.

The thing that pissed me off though, was 22 days after I bought it (21 days is the return date), I reconfigured the same PC with a 7800GTX and 20" widescreen monitor and it was cheaper than the one I bought.

DX10 is right around the corner.

This week INTEL will release their new Santa Rosa processors as well as the new 965GM chipset "Crestline".

At the same time NVIDIA will be releasing GeForce Go 8400-8600 Series graphics card that support DX10.....

Personally DX10 has been hyped for quite awhile now....with nothing to show for it except expensive new video cards.......plus, unless you are looking for a desktop replacement, how much video card do you really need?

INTEL QX9650
ASUS P5E3 Premium
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C)
5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5
BFG ES 800W PSU

So I would buy now. You can't always just keep playing the waiting game. Just my opinion.
That's the damn truth, a buddy of mine bought one of the XPS Dell lappies about 8 months ago and he's already having trouble with keeping it upgraded. Lappies just aren't for gaming.

Man, I think buying a notebook for heavy duty gaming is idiotic.....buy a Lan Box or Shuttle and put together a decent system.....notebooks are for traveling and such...and the graphics solutions are plenty good for modest gaming and watching DVDs in HD

My lappies specs are as follows. Pentium 4 2.8 Gig, 512 Megs RAM, 64 Meg graphics on integrated Intel board. It's a 15 inch screen in regular aspect ratio, and it's had no upgrades since I got it two years ago. It handles all my needs, from movies and music to graphics work with a minimal fuss. The last game that I was able to run that really looked good was Warcraft III. I simply don't play games on it anymore, aside from beating Panda Man at MS messenger minesweeper.
Laptops are made for workin really. They're great for homework and spreadsheets, etc.

You know what, after reading that post, you're actually right.

Regardless, I'm still gonna buy a laptop with a decent video card, like those old Inspiron E1705s with the 7800GSes.

The only time I see a laptop for gaming being useful is if you do a lot of traveling for your job and you like to game in your off time.
