Unfortunately, that's a socket 478 motherboard, which means you're running a s478 processor as well. That's a generation behind, even when you bought it in 2005, and is another example of why to avoid bulk OEMs like Compaq, Dell, Gateway, etc.

What this all means is that you'll have to budget in a new processor for your new build, as Intel has long since changed sockets to LGA775. But hey, that makes for a good excuse to move yourself to a dual-core (or quad-core) machine...

Hello again....1st build and dont have a $1 to spend, but my credit is outstandiing.. I know theres better PCS out there..but to start a fresh 1st time build, this is what I have come up with.(Got the "ok" from George that this was something to work with) (outstanding person in this communuty for sure and may God bless him)
*LET IT BE KNOWN,"GEORGE" IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISTAKES/CHANGES MADE BUY BUILDER).AKA ME.
I would like it to also be known that all respondents to my first thred fall into the identicle category.
With all that said....as my first build, and affordability ,as far as the human eye can see this is what I am going to do. I understand that a few of you have responded to my queries with utmost intention and valor,non-prejudice,technical skil and prowess. This is much appreciated more than I can ever express.
Here is what I picked for my first build as/per what I have learned from this site AKA you wonderful (persons) and an awsome guy named" George".
It isnt the best unit an individul can build but this is what a common person (AKA) me can afford.(you have NO idea how nice I had to be to the wifey of 24 yrs to do this):flowers::help::fight::beerglass::shakehands: :bawling:
Here's my new build

https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion...asp?ID=5425434

*major concernes are the hard drive...thinking I should double it just b-cuz.Graphics cards I can double up any time or buy a 512 etc....

I think you might have to save it as a "Public Wish List" in order for anyone to view it.

Looks like it has been saved as your "personal wish list" and is secured by passwords.

I am pretty sure Newegg allows you to save Public Wish lists also.

Heya ... I still can't see your new build.

If you can't get it to work ... you can leave a list of Newegg links and then we can see those.
