Mplayer and Lame also make a great DRM-freeing pair.
Well, I was referring mostly to trying to use DRM protected content in its native form. Given the restrictions mentioned in articles and whatnot, it seems as though trying to play DRM protected content like most people are used to doing with non-DRM content will be an incredible headache, if not impossible (like only being ably to have it on up to a certain number of computers or it only playing on certain portable media players or the requirement for HDCP enabled hardware for playback).

Sure, there will always be ways to get around DRM, but I'm pretty sure those ways aren't exactly legal or else they wouldn't even bother with DRM. Regular DVD's are fine because they don't have any advanced forms of DRM, but HD content (like what will be found on HD-DVD and Blu Ray) will probably be pretty tricky to avoid.

Actually in my last post it was just a metaphor, I was trying to imply that using DRM will be as easy as using a DVD Haven't they already started passing the keys out so people can use DRM protected media illegally?

It depends on how you go about it. If you decrypt something, it's illegal, but if you record it in analog mode, it's perfectly legal (fair use rights).

I still disagree with you. The DVD's copy protection actually was fairly advanced (you can't simply copy and paste the files from the disk without DeCSS), and the copy protection on both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray have already been cracked. As Steve Jobs said in his letter, "It's a cat and mouse game."

No suprise there. I have installed and used Linux on a Mac before, and I have to say it was easier then installing it on a PC. It also ran faster too. That was over 5 years ago, I am sure it's even better now.

All very good points. I don't claim to be a content protection know-it-all, but I'm just trying to say is that the whole DRM thing makes it much harder for the normal person to use their legal content how they want or how they are used to using it.

Yeah, I have, but I wouldn't want it. I don't like any of Apple's mice. If I was going to buy an external mouse for a MacBook, I'd buy a normal, non-Apple one. Actually, what I want is a two-button mouse on the touchpad.
