Now it's a different ballgame. NVIDIA chipsets are no longer primarily an AMD based solution, and they're seeing that enthusiasts have deeper pockets than the AMD glory days may have let on. Instead of $150-$175 for a high end board, you're now looking at $350+, and one way to get to that price point is to tout solid state caps, 8-phase power designs, and other enticements. They're nice to have, and can help when going for that record breaking overclock, but it's hard to say that any board is worth that kind of money. | |

| Packers Fanboi | I do love how my 100 dollar gigabyte board is largely solid state caps... not 100%, but it's not one of their d series p965 boards either. ![]() e6300@3.33ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| When I hear solid state capacitor, I think the SMD capacitors, the one on the bottom left. When I hear solid capacitor, I think like what was posted here earlier, the aluminum ones ![]() Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| I know Abit had problems with caps leaking before, but now a days how much of a problem is caps leaking? I mean, why would you use solid caps over regular caps today? Peace of mind? | Heh on OCForums this guy has pics of a Asus P5K Premium with 2 caps that busted when he was running DICE, the two caps closest to the 12V CPU Power plug. And the P5K Premium has Solid State Caps.
