Around here (SE Cleveland suburbs) there are several places to shop. One main compeditor of Comp USA is a place called Micro-Center. Micro_Center is a sweet store. Well laid out and a very helpful (and competent) staff. Both the Micro-Center and Comp USA (Spaced maybe 8 miles of interstate) seem to do a good business. I do seem to find myself a little more drawn to Micro-Center but use both as they are convenient on the way home from work. Ron | |

| Functional Alcoholic | I stand corrected, I stopped shopping at CompUSA back in 2001 when I went overseas, and I have been overseas pretty much since then. Newegg has better prices and ships to APO's ![]() I do visit Fry's every time I go home to Portland however. |

| You have got to love Fry's in Portland. Nice selection and no state tax. I bought my headset from CompUSA and it was less than the same product up on the other online stores. It was also only available for online purchase as they did not carry it in the stories, so it looks like they have already started making the change. They are most likely keeping the stores open that not only have good sales, but also are making money on service and warranties. I did find out that both local stores here are closing. They were in upper class areas too. Time to see what may be a good deal. LOL Ron | |

| The one near me is staying open. It'd better... the only other places to get parts around me is BB, CC, Staples, or way-overpriced mom and pop stores. Online's cheaper, but returns are a real PITA. | Functional Alcoholic | My Parents live about 10min from the Fry's in Wilsonville. I always make it a point to go there when I visit them. No Sales Taxes is one of the good things about Oregon, that and you don't have to pump your own gas. Last edited by gvblake22; March 1st, 2007 at 16:22. Reason: fixed quote tags |

| I'm Diggin it! | The one we have in Dothan, AL is going to close from the looks of it. I'll have to run out there and snap up some printer ink. Thanks for the heads up SC. Is your brother going to be affected by these closures? | Yeah. He's going to be out of a job. The closest CompUSA to us will be the 5th Avenue store in Manhattan - and that's 50 miles away. I told him, now that he's got about 2 years experience in CSR/Supervisor, he should go to Wal-Mart. Supervisor and Manager benefits are extremely good there. | I'm Diggin it! | Man, that sucks that he's affected by this. Hopefully, it's a way for him to broaden his horizons now that he has some managerial experience. I wish him the best of luck finding a new job.
