It seemed to handle an overclocked E6600 pretty well, it may be up to the task...

The Freezer 7 seems like it's only LGA775, unless i'm mistaken.
I guess I could always pick up another cooler for myself and leave this mobo untouched. Thermalright has some very good looking (though not exactly cheap) heatsinks out and it's been a while I've fiddled with one.

At any rate, this review gives good light on the Freezer 7. I should try to recommend it to people when I sell compys around. At under $30 (price seems to vary a lot at different e-tailers, some have it for $18) it's a very nice solution to the piss poor heatsink Intel bundles with their processors.

The Freezer 7 is essentially the same as the Freezer 64, just made for LGA775 instead of AM2.

If you look into Tt coolers, this big Typhoon is a beast but keeps things nice and cool, even with higher ambient temps

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Ahh indeed, checking the website shows that both are virtuall the same, only the mounting mechanism changes. Thanks for clearing that up.

Edit: I know screwbie, that's what I always liked about my Typhoon. It's not the best for stock CPU's but once you start cranking the volts and the ambient air gets hotter it's a champ. :)

I say go with a Asus P5K PRemium or any P5K for that matter, they are great MBs, and Asus makes the best Intel MBs....

G.Skill will not overclock as well as Patriot. Though it is decent Ram ... the 4GB Kit at DDR2-1000 is a nice kit and will rune spec at CAS 5-5-5-15. These will clock about the same as patriot DDR2-800 overclocked to DDR2-1000 @ 5-5-5-15.

Patriot OC's pretty well ... almost as well as Corsair XMS. Corsair are very close to Crucial Ballistic and sometimes exceed them ... especially with the XMS Dominator series.

Yeah I was eye'ing the Asus P5K-E. The Premium doesn't seem exactly worth the premium. :P
Doesn't have the crazy heatpipe contraption like the Premium but it looks like a strong board from what I've seen and heard.

the heatpipes are pretty much only for overclockers anyways... but even the regular boards can handle minor overclocks without a problem.

I'd say get that P5K-E, but get the Wifi version.
That's what I'm getting, and I've heard alot of good things about this board.
It's a great little OC'er

Whats the list of parts your going to buy so far?
