Actually, I will be doing a small bit of gaming. I'm gonna be using Steam and playing some open-source games. But gaming isn't my top priority, and I don't mind running at somewhat low resolutions. This rig is mostly for writing and programming.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

That's what I'm using on the 3700+ rig. Actually, to tell you the truth, I don't mind those lower resolutions at all. As long as the game's still fun, it doesn't really matter :)

I feel that one day the prices will level off. When I bought my Sony, I felt bad about spending $400. Took me months to stop feeling guilty.

Not a bad little build. I probably would have went with the 7600 GT, they are starting to hit the $100 range. Since you bought Evga you can always step it up. If I were you I would enter that 7300 into the stepup program as soon as you get it. Then in 90 days you can step it up if you want to, or if it is still serving your needs, just keep it. Also in 90 days that 7600 GT will probably go below $100 and you will still get your $70 credit.

Stepup program? Care to explain that a bit more? Is that where you send your old parts for refurbishing and they send you a new one for a small charge?
