sweet.
Can anyone tell me if the Antec 900 case is overbearably noisy or not, as there is only 1 shop in all of Australia that stocks P182s in black, and they are supposed to be really really really bad...For the most part it will be running at stock, except maybe an OC of the CPU later on

The Nine Hundred is not nearly as noisy as people think. In fact if you have the fans on low the case is actually pretty quiet. If you want the BEST cooling you can get then the Nine Hundred is very hard to beat.

cool. My first choice of case was the P182, but there is only P182SE in almost the whole of australia . But the 900 is my second choice so i'll probably get that then. Unless somewhere will order the P182 in for me.

@Antec 900 - With the fans on low, what can you be running, say if im running everything at stock will the fans on low be sufficient

Well what can you run is a loaded question. There are WAY to many factors to take into account to give this a solid answer. I would just say that this case will cool better than most cases.

Its not like the ANTEC Nine Hundred is a bad second choice.......as far as mid-towers go, its my first case to recommend (at least until you can buy the ANTEC Sonata III, which is an extremely well designed case with a very good PSU included).....even then the Nine Hundred is hard to beat.

As long as you are not an overclocker, you can choose probably any case you want.....consider that many systems offered by Dell, Gateway, HP, etc are put together using horrible cases with crappy wiring jobs and no air flow. Then consider the safe thermal properties of your hardware.....like i said, unless you are planning on some pretty decent overclocking, you have nothing to worry about.

With the Nine Hundred fans on low, you still have one of the very best cases on the market for overclocking, as the air flow is terrific, with very few places for hot air to accumulate.

OK so i've decided on getting the Antec 900, which saves me about $100.

So im probably gonna get some spic new perhipials to replace the $2 ones i have now.

Sound Cards, I've never used one, do they make much difference?
Also any other things i could get...umm like i see at different shops and sites, cards which are neither graphics nor sound

@ Ed - You suggested to get a extension cable for use in the P182, should i need one in the 900?

I would go ahead and get a 24 pin and a 4/8 pin extension no matter what. The Nine Hundred does a fair job of routing but to do the bext job the extensions give you more cable to play with.

As for sound cards. if you plan to game a lot the X-Fi is really hard to beat. The difference does not comin in as many think with frame rates but rather with better support for surround sound. If you can afford the sound card it will never hurt and will help in many cases.

theres no need for cable extenders unless you have a seriously old PSU. The Nine hundred is a mid tower case, and cable management is pretty easy. In fact when I used it, I just zip tied the cables using the holes beside the motherboard tray.
