I'd say build a "penryn ready" system that has a lot of muscle now and can put in a Penryn after a year or so.

I'd say ditch the DDR3 and Pick DDR2 as suggested or better yet the PC28500 2GB $99 @newegg

The Mobo ... I suggest an Abit IP35 Pro hands down the best board and bios for overclocking and has build in Fan control. [I don't suggest the 38X yet on any board]

For the CPU ... Clubit has the Xeon kentsfield x3210 Quad for $243 and clock it to 3GHZ ...

Use a ZEROtherm BTF90 or some other top rated Heatsink.
Use OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI Power Supply.

Do a Raid 0 with two striped drives.

Video ... I would go with EVGA 320-P2-N817-AR GeForce 8800GTS KO 320MB 320-bit GDDR3

Nice choice on the case

When do you plan to build this system? Early next month Nvidia is supposed to release the 8800 GTS based off G92, which is expected to outrun the GTX for a cheaper price and less power consumption/heat.

Two GTX's would be complete overkill and a real waste of money in my opinion , with new more powerful single cards just around the corner why would you? A single GTX is a monster all by itself, and if you want that little bit more bragging right go for an ultra. DDR3 is extremely overpriced for it's current performance right now (although as hardware matures this will change) you can save alot of money by cutting back on the Overkill and spend it much more wisely....like going for a quad for instance

X6800 @ 3.6Ghz
Asus P5K Premium
Leadtek 8800GTX @ 659/960
2gb OCZ Spec Ops @1066 5/5/5/15

Thanks for all the help, purchase date is Dec 8. Im gonna take all this into consideration and try to make a wiser choice. I have to go with DDR3, this computer is gonna spend a few days as a demo. And it has to be an ASUS Mobo (im getting a term deal from the reseller).

Thats just the G80 core with 112 shaders enabled. The G92 version will have a 256-bit bus, 512mb of memory and 128 shaders.

So pretty much the same as the 8800GT but with the clocks up?

Yeah, the new GTS will be a 8800GT with more memory, higher clocks and more shaders enabled. The only way to pick the three apart is by looking at the shader count and memory/bus

So you have to return the mobo??? If that is the case, I sure as hell wouldn't spend my cash on the RAM, just to have to return the mobo!!!

But, as mentioned, you really do not need a 1000watt psu!!! That is very much overkill!
