I'd comfortably agree with that argument.

And it's an AWESOME performer - I highly recommend it and will soon be swapping my E6550 out for it, after I sell it.

Its a little more than that. A lot of the reviews that came out this past week were kind of rushed. In my testing I've found the X48 overclocks a lot better, especially memory overclocking.

checking for codes.....

Error 26: Clock Gen, Init onboard clock generator and sensor
Error 7F: POST error check, Check POST error and display them and ask for user intervention

Error 7F sounds like it is telling you to check error 26 although it may be something else, look at the boot screen to see if its giving you any error messages...

edit: after some digging... it appears that error 26 could also be a bad video card... and this seems to be happening with more frequency with 8800 based cards...
The only solution that seems to work is BIOS update or RMA

Quote:
I found an old pci video card and I was able to finally boot the MB.
I then updated my bios to the latest version.
I then remove the PCI video card and inserted the PCI-e video card and it booted properly.
If this does not work then you may need to RMA the video card

Thanks HL and Corsair!

After looking at those POST codes in the motherboard manual, it looks like there is a clock speed setting that it doesn't like. Try clearing the CMOS (follow instructions in your motherboard manual) to reset the BIOS and see if that helps. You say you cannot get into the BIOS at all? Try holding down the delete key on the keyboard as the computer starts up; does it get in then?

It's possible that the new quad core is too new for the BIOS and it doesn't know what to do. Do you have access to another LGA775 Intel processor you could try to boot the system with?

tried holding delete key nothing happened. i don't have access to another cpu. it says it is supported in the specs of the mobo. ill try cmos but if its new board how would cmos be different from stock.

Several times I've gotten a new motherboard and it had a CPU clock error on first boot, but it was always solved/cleared by going into the bios and making sure the settings were correct, then saving and exiting and everything was fine again. I'm a little stumped on this one
You could try just booting with only one stick of RAM installed just in case there is something awry there...
