Which one is better:

LG Blu-Ray and DVD/CD Burner
LG Black 16X DVD+R

or

Pioneer Blu-Ray and DVD/CD Burner

Pioneer Black 12X DVD+R
or

Pioneer Blu-Ray and DVD/CD Burner (what's the difference between the last two?)
Pioneer Black 12X DVD+R

The 169.99 pioneer is an oem and the 179.99 is a retail version, That's the only difference i can tell. I'd just go with the 169.99 pioneer personally. unless you have HD-DVD' laying around. The LG will play those as well

Haha oops, missed that. Yeah I guess the HD-DVD drive would be useless. Someone mentioned on a review that they were experiencing jaggy's with the drive. Is that a hardware or GPU issue?

Could be running a crappy cpu or a crappy gpu I'd assume. Yooure computer is going to be pretty up to date so I dont see that happening, but to be sure, I'd look around for reviews on the web for the one you decide on.

To be 100% honest, unless you have to have SLI, I'd recommend an INTEL chipset....either the X38 or the X48 would be a good choice.

As to the Raptor.....IMO they are a waste of money.....for that money you can get yourself a nice 1TB drive and partition it for a couple operating systems.

Funny that you should bring that up, the mobo was the one thing I was really not 100% on. I've read a lot of stuff saying it was a hit/miss with the 790i. Which x48 would I be looking at getting?

And for what reasons did you suggest an x38/48 over the 790i?

Edit: Btw, I do plan on running SLI in the future.

Intel chipsets seem to have less problems overall. I'm pretty sure some members here can tell you some horror stories about their nvidia boards. But if you are going to running SLI you're gonna need an nvidia chipset.

I almost always recommend INTEL chipsets because the boards are usually much more stable....but since you want SLI, you are pretty limited in your choices.
