1) Unless you have a distinct need for SLI (such as a very large monitor running an unusually high resolution), settle for a single videocard solution. Budget doesn't seem to be much of a prohibiting factor, but even still, you'd be saving money by going this route. Some possible candidates in the top tier category include the 7950GX2, 7900GTX, or X1900XTX. Set them money saved aside for a future DX10 upgrade.

2) If we can agree to ditch SLI, let's move on to a higher end motherboard. Some options include the DFI 975X/G or the Asus P5W DH Deluxe.

3) Personally, I'm just not confident in the NeoHE series by Antec. If you can do without modular, the OCZ 600w GameXstream can be had for $97 shipped after $15 MIR, or snag the Quad-SLI certified 700w version for $115 shipped after $25 MIR. Or if modular is a must, splurge a bit on the solid M12 series by Seasonic, or pick up an Enermax Liberty.

4) And finally, if you haven't done so already, browse our Recommended Lists broken down by category.

Wow, thanks for the Recommended link brother. I hadn't realized it was there. I had opted for the SLI board because of the possibility of going SLI. I have cancelled the second video card though. The GX2 was too much card if I chose to go SLI in the future as I don't have a monitor that would need Quad GPU's. I had read of some severe memory problems with the 7900 series of cards, so was staying away from them. Do you think the 7950GT I ordered, with a nice overclock, will be a good one? I'll go ahead and order the 700W PSU you linked to above. I can put this Antec in the kids computer, since the one in my sig will soon be theirs.

Definitely, the 7950GT is a great card, with or without an overclock. Performance wise, it falls between a 7900GT and 7900GTX. Some decent benchmarking charts can be found ---> HERE and HERE

That 7950GT will rock even without an overclock. If the 7950GT has anywhere close to the OC headroom the 7900GT has, you should be able to squeeze plenty of free performance from that card. And if it turns out to not be enough, you can always oder a second one later (if you are sticking with the nForce chipset).

LOL....wouldn't be hard to do with the advice given here, but the stuff is already on the way. NewEgg went from step 3 to step 5 in about 10 minutes this morning.

I did order that 700W PSU from ZZF though. Good price on it too. FedEx 2nd day shipping was only $1.99 extra.

With the way I swap out stuff, I'll probably have one of those boards in the next 4 months anyway. I'm waiting to see if Nvidia has their crap squared away when they intro the 680i chipsets.

i have seen quite a few tests and such that put the X1950 Pro and XTX versions as better vid cards by themselves, plus they got rid of the dongle thingy, just something to think about
