| Well keep in mind Halo 2 is a MS game, so it makes sense for them to do that. Other publishers I doubt if they follow that, there's still too many people on XP, making it Vista only would hinder their potential sales. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Typically, I'd recommend a 1333FSB processor and DDR3 for someone building from the ground up....but your needs and budget make this a good system. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | And hard drive. For heavy video editing, you'll want 500GB minimum, which is typically the sweet spot anyway. Couple of candidates: Seagate Barracuda 500GB/32MB - $110 Seagate Barracuda 750GB/32MB - $140 |

| Is the Zerotherm worth the price over the AC Freezer 7? I was thinking about getting the Freezer 7, but that Zerotherm has some good reviews as well. Intel Q6600 EVGA 790i Ultra 2GB DDR3 Patriot 1600 MSI 8800GTS OC (G92) Rosewill 750 watt PSU |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Yes, especially on a quad-core processor. While not a thermal slouch, the AC Freezer is geared more towards noise management. I'm running the ZeroTHERM Nirvana myself on my QX6800. We also reviewed this unit, which you can read here. |

| Exams are over so now I can turn my attention to the nw computer. I am not going to overclock anything. With that in mind do I need to pay hundreds for slick Mobo or will this one do? Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Retail ALso, when i look at the mobo web site for compatable memory, it has a rev 1.o and rev 2.o version of the board. What is that all about? Oh and this is the chip I am looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115040 . What kind of fan should I buy to cool it? Thanks for all you help. |

| Colonel Calamity | I suggest the EP35-DS3R or DS3P (note the "E", and R = onboard RAID, and P = pair of PCIe x16 slots + RAID).... this is an energy efficient model (thus the "E") which is set to use less power/energy... so not only does it save a few pennies on the power bill but you get full speed from your hardware. With the board I have (DS3P), they have a software program on the CD that can lower the CPU speed, voltage and PSU draw via software. Since 3/1/08, it shows that my system has saved a total of 1,947 watts. That is almost 2 kW/hr less on my power bill this month. For people who do not run their system folding (100% CPU usage) 24/7, then your savings will be probably at least twice what I am seeing. Granted my last power bill was rated at 11 cents per kWh so I saved a whole 22 cents... but the point is that if everyone with computers did this, it could actually make a difference on our power grid.... ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Don't skimp on the PSU.... get a beefier one. The Corsair HX series is a great choice. |
