Since it has a good rebate it seems like the better choice, btw how hard is it to claim your rebate?

does this mobo allow dual video cards? maybe a year down the road i can get a second video card, another 8800gt would probably be way cheaper in a year
The rebates depend on the company, Abit in this case. I've never dealt with them, so I'm not really sure about their rebates.

That mobo does allow dual GPU's, but since it's an Intel chipset (the P35 chipset) you can only have dual ATI/AMD cards, not nVidia.

EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Silverstone Decathlon 650W
Western Digital 250GB SATA II

IMO, I don't think you would see much performance increase between an E8400 and Q9450, maybe a little bit but not enough to go paying $160 more for..... I'd say stick with an E8400, doing this you don't have to check out any better mobo's either!
hrm.. if i'm not going to see a big difference between the Q9450 and the E8400 then yeah i will go dual core for sure. I think the reason i was going quad was about future proof and such but now i'm second guessing myself. i could get an E8400 with the gigabite mobo save a bunch then overclock.. hrm. E8400 is still better then the Q6600 right? becuse i know on the 20th of april the Q6600 is droping about 40$ in price to about the same as an E8400

Yep, I'd take the E8400 over the Q6600. I think COD4 can also use all 4 cores too.

I liked the idea of a quad core just for the bragging right, but honestly don't know how much better it would be. So for gaming i don't really not to go past the E8400, then i guess ill scrap the Q9300 & Q9450 for now.

Thats the final verdict, Dual core it is hu?

Glad i'm not in a rush or anything, save a bit over 200 not going with the 9450 and the better mobo (since you don't think its worth an extra 200 to go with it?)

+1 on this, wow was COD4 on that game list? *goes and puts on glasses* yip your right lol!!! Yes COD4 can use all four cores.

So you say you want to get a second 8800GT down the road.... ok so lets do this.
Grab the E8400, and grab the EVGA 750i FTW mobo.
The 750i is an excellent OC'er, has dual card support and is a "liked" board all around. Here and Here of the board.

Let me redo the list of parts with these and see what the cost comes to.

Damn that mobo takes most the saving right out of it! haha. I think i'd rather pay 100 more for the quad and that other mobo then go with a dual and that mobo.

How much better is the Q9450 then a E8400?

i might just not bother with SLI, and wait a year and just buy a single card that would be stronger then the card i have now

Haha lol yea I just realized that, about the mobo..... to expensive.

Theres the ASUS P5N-D 750i for $150?

I added everything up with that board and it came to $1,220. ($1,130 after rebates though)

Like I said, the quad isn't going to give you enough noticeable difference than the E8400.

I think going for a stronger single card down the road would be a good idea.

Edit:
BTW, would you be thinking about upgrading to a quad down the road? If so, then you should still be looking at an 8-Phase or more board.

If i'm going with a stronger single card down the road, should i just stick to the gigabite then? mobo* or does it not have good overclock abilities?

and to your edit about the quad core down the road, if this is good enough to get me by ill stick with it for a year or two, and if i decide i want a new cpu, it would probably be more cost efficent to buy a new mobo and cpu two years later or something? Then i could simply transfer this mobo & cpu to my old (current) computer. *just a thought

Yeah, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Gigabyte... but it kinda falters when OCing quads

Since the E8400 is good enough ill go with that then, and the gigabite mobo. If two years later i decide to go with quad ill just change my mobo and E8400 for the new quads of that time, and put the Gigabite mobo and E8400 in my older computer.
